Most coaches think “personal brand” means flashy photos and six-figure funnels. But your brand already exists… it’s whatever people say about you when you leave the room. Let’s tear down the “Hollywood” version and show you how to turn the those conversations into clients, referrals and coaching contracts. And we’ll share how Faisal secured a 100K contract (it’s not what you think).
1. Brand = Association (and You Already Have One)
Faisal re-frames this: forget the logos and lighting kits.
“Brand is simply what people associate with you professionally.”
If a stranger can finish the sentence “Oh, you’re the coach who…” you’ve got a brand. If they can’t, you’ve still got one, it’s just unclear.
Daniel says that every DM, every barbecue story, every phone call is stacking that association in real time, in people’s minds, intentional or not.
Coach action tip:
Write the 6-word sentence you want overheard about you at the next networking breakfast. Start using that in intros, bios, even calendar invites. That’s your first brand filter, everything else either supports it or erodes it.
2. Consistency Beats Virality (The 100 k Proof)
Faisal’s YouTube channel limped along for two years, low views, zero leads.
Then one COO binge-watched 30+ clips the night before a big decision, skipped three other coaches and wired a $100K retainer, saying ‘I love the questions you ask. I already know how you think” Zero ads/funnels, with a solid public record of showing up weekly.
Coach action tip:
Pick a single platform (newsletter, podcast, LinkedIn posts, doesn’t matter) and publish/post one micro-piece every week for 52 weeks. Treat it just like brushing teeth (which we hope you do daily, not weekly, haha!!), and not like a temporary campaign. You’ll find that compound interest is invisible until it isn’t.
3. Repair Fast, Then Stack Value
Daniel and Faisal discussed Daniel’s cringe-worthy story of mistakenly starting his own meeting 30 min late after a supporter promoted him, after which the guy ghosted him. “Go above-and-beyond once, then ask, ‘How else can I repair this?’”
Most people give you a second chance if your track record is 99% reliable.
Coach action tip:
Next time you drop the ball, send the apology and a tangible “make-good”, something they’d find valuable. Finish the sentence “I know your time is valuable, so here’s ___.” Then shut up and let the gesture speak for itself.
4. One Warm Node Beats a Thousand Cold Followers
A client spotted a viral LinkedIn thread on generational wealth, DM’d Faisal: “You should speak to this.” So he created a 20-min training for her, and she posted it in the thread (200+ perfect-fit eyeballs), generating three DMs that turned into two discovery calls. Trust gives you access to someone else’s network.
Coach action tip:
List five micro-communities you already touch (alumni Slack, PTA group, condo board, whatever). Offer a free 30-min “lunch-and-learn” on the problem you solve. Bring one actionable handout. Collect one testimonial. Repeat. That’s a referral flywheel before you ever boost a post. (Ask for referrals!)
Don’t Wait for Perfect Branding, Own the Conversations Already Happening
Your reputation is traveling faster than your website ever will. Consistency, speedy repair and becoming trusted are levers that turn quiet respect into booked calendars. Nail those and the logos can wait.
